Prior to joining Wakeman Boys & Girls Club as Executive Director of the Madison Avenue Community Clubhouse, Carlos was the Executive Director of the Ulbrich Boys & Girls Club in Wallingford. Carlos led the organization through a period of significant growth, expanding into North Haven with two satellite sites and developing a partnership with the North Health & Racquet Club. In 2021, he partnered with the North Haven Public Schools to open five School-based sites and the following year facilitated a merger of Ulbrich Boys & Girls Club and Boys & Girls Club of New Haven. Prior to joining the Ulbrich Boys & Girls Club, Carlos was Director of Operations at the Boys & Girls Club of New Haven.
Carlos served as President of the Greater New Haven Mentoring Collaborative for 2.5 years, building awareness on the importance of mentoring. Carlos has completed Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s Advanced Leadership Program, Executive Leadership Program, and Principles of Leadership through Employers Association of the Northeast. He earned a Certificate of Completion and Fellowship through the University of New Haven for participating in the Transforming Youth Justice Leadership Development Program. Carlos earned his Associates in Human Services at Housatonic Community College and Illustration at Paier College of Art. Carlos is married to his lovely wife Cynthia Collazo for the past 20 years and they have an amazing son Joncarlos. Both Carlos and his wife are natives of Bridgeport. Carlos is a proud alumnus of the North End Boys & Girls Club, which previously occupied the site of the current Madison Avenue Community Clubhouse. He worked for the Bridgeport BGCs from 1995-2003 and has come full circle and found a home with Wakeman Boys & Girls Club.
