Janice coached and taught Physical Education in the Fairfield Public Schools since 1986 and retired during the summer of 2024. She is excited to return to the Wakeman BGC family in the role of Healthy Lifestyles Specialist working at the Southport Clubhouse as well as at McKinley School.   

Janice began her career at Wakeman Boys & Girls Club in 1987 teaching Preparing for Team Sports (PTS) followed by being a summer camp counselor. She has happily continued working with the organization in varied capacities throughout the years including working with the McKinley Outreach Program when it was first introduced and being a board member for the Stratfield Clubhouse. Janice loved teaching the “No Cook Cooking Class” as well as the fun games/activities in the gymnasium (fitness games, scooter activities, tag games, and varied sports). Recently, Janice presented two sessions at the Northeast Regional Keystone Conference (April 2024) in Yoga as well as Self-Defense that were very well received by high school students from Maine to Delaware. During the summer of 2024, Janice returned as a counselor at Wakeman BGC summer camp, “greenhouse gardener” and PE specialist.  Although the building has changed dramatically from her first years here in Southport, she feels it is an honor to continue to work with the wonderful staff and students of WBGC and thus begin the next chapter of her career.
