Rugby Program at Madison Avenue Community Clubhouse

2024 Practice Information:

  • All youth groups (U10, U12, & U14) will be practicing at Kennedy Stadium from 4:00pm - 5:30pm every Monday and Wednesday. 
  • High School Rugby group will be practicing on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 pm - 5:30pm at Kennedy Stadium.

Wakeman Boys & Girls Club is excited to introduce its COBRA Rugby Program, which participates in the Rugby Connecticut Youth and High School leagues, in accordance with USA Rugby.

  • To be eligible to play, boy and girl participants must be in grades 3-12 for the 2023-24 (current) school year.
  • Practices start the first week in March, with weekly games held April- June
  • Practice will be held at Kennedy Stadium: 1 Lincoln Boulevard, Bridgeport
  • Players will participate in 2-3 weekly practices
  • Registration for the 2024 season opens February 3, 2024

Ages: 7-18

Location: Madison Avenue Community Clubhouse, Kennedy Stadium, and Various Fields in Bridgeport Community


The Rugby Program is an alliance between COBRA Rugby and Wakeman Boys & Girls Club. The goal is to demonstrate to our young men and women that hard work, persistence, effective communication, commitment to the team, self-control and considerate behavior result in real strength--strength that is noticed, acknowledged, and respected by others. Our team members learn that these behaviors lead to success. Participants train together twice a week and compete against teams throughout the New York tri-state area. This increases focus on academics and positive actions due to a newfound belief that future successes are attainable.
